METROPOLIS: Pronounced “Met-rop-o-lis” (Easy!) : The self proclaimed “Greatest Show On Earth” rolls into the beautifully refurbished Middlesbrough Empire every Saturday night. Teesside’s premier Saturday extravaganza.. In the main hall you get the region's finest Indie DJs plus occasional live treats on that awesome stage – we’ve had Pendulum, The Cribs, The Chapman Family, Cage The Elephant, King Blues, Vintage Trouble, Polarsets, Frankie & The Heartstrings, Futureheads, Young Rebel Set and more on the big stage wowing the crowds.
In addition to the main auditorium, take a wander round this amazing building for 3 more rooms of music and magic. The large first floor room hosts 'Metropop': An epic hands-in-the-air sing your heart out pop disco. All the latest chart smash hits plus all the best bits of the 80’s 90’s and 00’s. Also on the first floor, you'll find The Beat Box, a sublime mash up of Soul, Motown, Hip Hop and feel good hits from DJ Grant Scholfield.
Last, but by no means least, right at the top of the building is “Kaboom”, complete with face-painters, its own cocktail bar and DJs playing an off-beam mix of new music, vintage electro, synth, new-wave, post-punk, garage rock, art-haus indie, forgotten classics and unearthed gems. Add to that a great plush VIP chill out bar and one of the UK’s finest light and sound systems and you're pretty much sorted for Saturday Night. .

Grouplove began when Hannah Hooper and Christian Zucconi forged a friendship with the other three members while attending an artists' residency on the island of Crete. When back in the United States, they recorded material at drummer Ryan Rabin's home studio. As a result, their first EP was released in 2010. The band has since been touring the U.S. as the opening act for Florence and the Machine. www.grouplovemusic.com
