Metropolis : Every Saturday Night

The self proclaimed “Greatest Show On Earth” rolls into the beautifully refurbished Middlesbrough Empire every Saturday night. Over the past year, the night has become firmly establisehd as Teesside’s premier indie extravaganza. In the main hall you get the region's finest indie/electro DJs plus occasional live treats on that awesome stage - in the past year the likes of Pendulum, The Cribs and Cage The Elephant have wowed crowds.
 
In addition to the main auditorium, Metropolis houses various club nights within the club night, giving the night a unique and refreshing feel.
 
The large first floor room hosts “Cherry Jam” (Motown/Funk/Hip Hop on the 1st Sat of the month), “Pop Disco” (the very best pop hits from the past 50 years on the 2nd and 4th Sat of the month) and “Pink Flamingo” (futuristic pop and new romantic on the 3rd Sat of the month.) Also on the first floor, you'll find The Rock Box, which, as you can imagine plays a hefty mix of all things punk, rock and metal.
 
Last, but by no means least, right at the top of the building is “Kaboom”, complete with face-painters, its own cocktail bar and DJs playing an off-beam mix of new music, vintage electro, synth, new-wave, post-punk, garage rock, art-haus indie, forgotten classics and unearthed gems.
 
Add to that a great plush VIP chill out bar, 100% alternative-friendly door staff and one of the UK’s finest light and sound systems and you're pretty much sorted for Saturday Night.
 
[Q Jumping tickets available from 8:30pm at Uncle Alberts (just down the road opposite train station) which is free in and hosts two great live bands each week.
